i think this would be a really interesting gamemode. while still being multiplayer, there is no risk of being eliminated by another player.
also could be used as a way to introduce coins/in-game currency.

values could be adjusted, but i guess bosses will reset every 24 hours and everyone tries to send x amount of lines to the boss.

yeah the suggestion as is sounds a lot more like elite dangerous's community goals (E.G. "deliver 2 million tonnes of Iron to The Station to get New Weapon") than a mode you can play and beat within 10 or so minutes lol

I feel like for bosses to be more involved, we're gonna have to either solve #1020070451839508572 or make someone the boss, and you'd have to work out rates of damage (when I first thought of this idea as "Juggernaut" the incoming attacks for the boss were slashed into quarters, which doesn't account great for remainders)

The Connected mode was basically a boss battle type of thing. IMO it worked better than the skill battle in PPT2

Even going the """lazy way""" and making TETR.IO-specific AI to simulate gameplay the way PPT and PPT2 does for their AI is more engaging than just... attacking a PNG

I like the idea of a “drop in and play for a little” kind of thing - like a chill, non-competitive QP lobby that never ends. Just show up, do some moves and chat a little with others

I don't think osk is a fan of microtransactions. He sticks by the Free-to-Win tag, having been inspired by osu!'s model.

Now, that being said, in-game currency and being able to use that for skins is an entirely different story. You can just play the game passively and generate coins (or lock it to boss mode if you're so cruel) until you have enough coins to buy a new skin. You know who already does that? Tetris 99. What does it cost you? Time. That's it.

To an extent, I'm also anti-microtransactions, but this is a very reasonable ask knowing other games (of varying genres too) already have an in-game currency system that doesn't need microtransactions to keep its playerbase happy.

I also want to highlight the importance of hiding extra skins behind in-game currency (or microtransactions) vs hiding tuning options behind in-game currency (or microtransactions) — those are two wildly different functions, one much more important than the other. Looking at you, TB/TF and TOJ/TOP/TOW.

Hmm, I feel like osk's aim for that specifically is more TGM3 Sakura than it is Boss mode, but that's a potential basis? Using mystery mode?

That still sounds super SP-esque and doesn't feel right to me, at least in terms of making it a "multiplayer" gamemode

Perhaps I'm being way too 1-dimensional with my PPT2 Boss Mode and TE:C Connected background, though I've already stated earlier in this thread how I'm not a fan of attacking PNGs that are there as a "visual to attack"
