• tag the room with ffa/1v1 or other rooms by criteria
• could have some additional tags like "chat-focused" or "pc", "turn-based" to leave it as host's choice (let's just hope people won't misuse this)
• option to display rooms by their tags (filter by tag criteria or highest rank)

the reason why there is a need for room filtering is there are too many redundant rooms in the list. this means there are a lot of rooms in the list that i cannot join (ex. ss 1v1, so-called "noob rooms" etc.) and most players don't need that extra information all the time.
it's not like a B+ ranked player will join X rank ffa room and enjoy playing in there most of the time.

yea not to mention [player]'s room like it could be anything, ffa, 1v1's, noobs or pros even though it's probably a noob ffa, most new players wouldn't know

and most experienced people wouldn't bother clicking on it if it's actually a pro room

as extension to this idea, people should be obliged to name their rooms BC it could be impersonation EX: "osk's room" or the owner already left and the name of the room doesn't match anymore and as i mentioned, it literally say almost nothing what is the room is for

I worry counter-intuitive UX for this one

some UI might have to change

for example: adding an icon before or after the room name so players (or hosts) know the room name is automatically going to change

I agree on this, most of the players (I don't mean "vocal players" by this) don't have a solid understanding how the room settings are categorized and how to change the room settings

I also remember being confused when playing tetr.io for the first time

+) imo this is not likely to be added however; it's a bit complicated? (I don't know how to phrase this) than all other settings and not really categorizable*. I'm not sure if osk would like having tons of toggles in his settings UI in many categories, but that's just my opinion.

*: actually this could be categorized, and I might have a wrong understanding of each category. I can't be sure about this one

If you also want filtering out those rooms, we could have a "Filter rooms with default names" option 👀

yeah also taking into account that there's no live updates for room names or any room changes in the list ui

there's also the case of intentionally naming the room like that or leaving it like that

but yeah i guess i can get behind requiring custom names when creating public rooms

so it can be done with a click without editing the rooms right after creating them the whole time

or… upon making a room, you'll be prompted to choose one of the settings presets, each with its own preset name

maybe before the room is created, you choose some tags and then the room will preset some options for you? so if you select a 1v1 tag then it will automatically do a FT5 and player limit 2 or something
