The "Stick" is no longer a tool of enforcement or is it a badge of popularity. It’s a symbol of recognition for community leaders who naturally guide by example and contribute positively to our shared space.

A Journey to Forest Guide
We’re proud to announce that our current Community Moderation team will be the first to carry the "Stick" in-game as Forest Guides. While they are no longer moderators, they are honored as role models and leaders within the community.

In Discord, we’re introducing a new role: Forest Guides. These are community members recognized for their positive contributions. This is not a role you can ask for, but one that’s earned through natural, consistent actions that uplift our community.

How Does It Work?

• :medal: Positive Recognition: The "Stick :stickright:" is awarded to players who embody the best of our community values.
• :handshake: Not a Popularity Contest: Selection is based on actions, not status - there’s no application process, so just focus on enjoying the game and helping others!
• :eyes: Discreet Moderation: In game Moderators no longer carry "Sticks" or stand out in-game. They work behind the scenes to support and guide, blending seamlessly into the community.

How It Works

Progression is all about completing fun in-game quests to earn points and show off your accomplishments. Here’s what you need to know:

• Daily Quests:
  • Every day, you’ll get 5 daily quests, each worth 1 point.
  • Complete them to boost your weekly total.
• Weekly Quests:
  • Each week, you'll have 2 weekly quests, each worth 5 points.
  • These take a bit more effort but offer bigger rewards!
• Weekly Cap:
  • You can earn up to 10 points per week, so pace yourself or go all-in—your choice!
  • Whether you do a little each day or knock it all out in one go, you’ll still hit your cap.

How to Track Your Progress

You can track your progression at the Quest Console, where you'll see:

• Today’s Quests – View what’s available and your progress so far.
• Completed Quests – See what you’ve knocked out and what's left to do.
• Unclaimed Points – Don’t forget to redeem your earned points here to update your badge!

Once you redeem your points, they’ll be added to your Progression Badge, which you can proudly wear to show off your journey.

Every day brings new challenges, with everchanging quests such as:

• Daily Quests:
  • Play Infection in Forest
  • Ride the shark

With a mix of general and zone-specific challenges.

Friend System

Introducing the Friends System!

We’re excited to bring you a new way to connect and play with your fellow Gorilla Tag players! The Friends System consists of two key features:

1. The Friending Station – Where friendships are made!
2. The Friends Display – Where you can view and interact with your friends.

How to Make Friends

Making friends is simple and fun!

1. Go to a Friending Station with someone you want to add as a friend.
2. Both of you hold the Add Friend button for 3 seconds.
3. Success! You’re now friends and can see each other on the Friends Display.

What You Can Do with Friends

Once you’ve made some friends, you can interact with them using the Friends Display:

• View Your Friends: See all your friends listed.
• Join a Friend: Hit the JOIN button to join your friend’s room.
  • Note: You can only join friends from the Friends Display in the same map as their public room.
• Remove a Friend:
  1. Select REMOVE FRIEND to enable removal mode.
  2. Hold the REMOVE button under the friend you want to remove for 3 seconds to unfriend them.
• Control Your Visibility: (Coming Soon)
  • Visible: Friends can see your name, room, and zone, and join you in public or private rooms.
  • Public Only: Friends can only see your room/zone when you’re in public rooms.
  • Hidden: Friends cannot see your room or zone at all.

Where to Find the Stations

You can find the Friending Stations and Friends Displays in every map near the Computer or Scoreboard.

We can’t wait for you to try out the Friends System!
Visibility settings aren’t fully functional yet, its on the way. In the meantime, start making connections and building your friends list today!

What are Parent-Managed Meta Accounts?

If a child self-identifies or is identified by Meta as being between 10-12 years of age (a “Child” or “Children”), their parent or legal guardian may create and manage a Parent-Managed Meta Account.

We do not administer Parent-Managed Meta Accounts. For more information on creating and managing an account for a Child, please review Meta’s education hub at https://www.meta.com/quest/safety-center/parental-supervision/.
Note that Meta does not support Parent-Managed Meta Accounts for children under the age of 10 or Quest 1 and Rift players. Children under the age of 10 cannot play Gorilla Tag, and Quest 1 and Rift players must be at least 13 years old to play Gorilla Tag.

Once a parent or legal guardian creates a Parent-Managed Meta Account, they may manage certain gameplay settings for their Child.

PSVR2 Gorilla Tag

Please note that the PlayStation VR2 version of Gorilla Tag has some unique aspects compared to the Quest version. Here’s what you need to know:

• Metro Update: Virtual Maps are not available on PSVR2.

• No Cross-Play: Players on PSVR2 cannot join games with players on other platforms.

• Age Restriction: 13+ only on PSVR2.

• Store and Cosmetic Options:
  No store bundles or first-person visible > cosmetics.

• Try-on bundles are unavailable (unlike Quest).
  Wardrobe and Appearance: The wardrobe is not the updated version found on Quest.

• Game Modes: Casual, Infection, PaintBrawl, and Hunt are available.

• Loading Screens: Brief loading screens appear when entering or exiting the Clouds, Mountains, and Metro maps.

• Eye Tracking: Eye tracking is not supported.

• PlayStation Parental Controls: Fully supported.

• PlayStation®Plus required to play Online or buy/use cosmetics. (Solo play only without)

• Updates: No planned content updates for now, but bug fixes will be provided.

🔧 Modding & Risk of Bans

We know mods can make the game more fun, especially with friends and we want to clear up confusion around what’s allowed, what’s risky, and how to mod responsibly.
Mods can enhance gameplay and are often a fun way to play with friends. We do not ban for simply having mods installed.

However, how you use those mods does matter.

👍 What Responsible Modding Looks Like

Responsible modding will not get you banned. Here's how to do it safely:

• No negative impact on gameplay (no unfair advantages, griefing, or exploits).
• Do not use mods on public servers stick to Private/Modded lobbies.
• Never use anything that assaults or interferes with servers.
• Keep your mods up to date to avoid false flags or compatibility issues.

🛡️ Safest Ways to Mod

• Use trusted sources like the Gorilla Tag Modding Discord or Mod.io.
• If your mod was from a source thats ran by known cheaters or has options labeled as "detected" that’s not a mod, that’s a cheat, regardless of how you use it.

❓"What Mods Am I Allowed to Use?"

There’s no official list of "legal" or "illegal" mods. What matters is how they behave and where you use them.

You risk a ban if:

• You're reported for cheating.
• You’re detected by Anti-Cheat (this includes outdated mods that misbehave).
• Your mods disrupt other players or gameplay.

🛡️ Understanding the Anti-Cheat System

Our Anti-Cheat is an ever-evolving system designed to protect the game and its servers from malicious behavior.

We aim to strike a balance:

• We don't want to block all mods,
• But we do need to combat cheats and server abuse.

Here’s what you should know:

• If the Anti-Cheat detects a server assault or exploit attempt, it will take action automatically. It doesn’t matter where the mod came from or what your intentions were.
• Its job is to protect the servers and players, not to judge context.

We know it’s not a perfect system.
In rare cases it has 'False banned'. When that happens, we investigate and unban affected users.

If you use mods, we strongly recommend being cautious after updates. Wait for confirmation from the mod’s creator or trusted community sources before using it again. Outdated mods can trigger Anti-Cheat, even if they were fine before.

If you're not reported, and you don’t trigger Anti-Cheat, you won’t get banned.

Please remember:

🚨 Any reports of cheating or detection by Anti-Cheat put your account at high risk of a ban.
🚫 It is rare we unban when Mods are involved.

0 Players or Connection Issues

Connection issues can cause cosmetics to not load and rooms being empty.

Gorilla Tag only On PCVR Issues
Completely remove or rename your Gorilla Tag folder, and reinstall.
Usually found here:
STEAM: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Gorilla Tag
META RIFT: C:\Program Files\Oculus\

On Quest

1. If you have multiple accounts on your headset, updates can sometimes cause issues. To resolve this, uninstall Gorilla Tag from all the accounts on the headset. After that, reinstall it on the Main Account first, and then add it to the other accounts.

2. Clearing the Appdata.

Please note for Gorilla Tag steps 2 and 3 will remove your critters, you can get them back by following this:
You may have a snapshot on the Meta cloud backup service please visit it and when you select Gorilla Tag if it is enabled you should see a restore button for a number of dates, choose the one prior to your App data reset.

Gorilla Tag Fan Club (VIP Monke)

Over the years, a lot of players have asked for things like bigger lobbies, early access to features, and more ways to be involved with what we’re building behind the scenes.

The Gorilla Tag Fan Club, also called Very Important Monke (V.I.M.), is an optional subscription for players who want a little extra while supporting the ongoing development of the game.

Being a V.I.M. gives you access to features and experiences that let us test things earlier, try new ideas, and experiment with content before it rolls out more widely. It is also a way for players who really love Gorilla Tag to stay closer to what the team is working on.

At launch, V.I.M. includes a mix of in-game perks, early feature access, and exclusive spaces, with more planned over time.

Steps
1️⃣ Visit the kiosk in-game
2️⃣ Press and hold the button to activate it
3️⃣ Press Subscribe and choose your subscription length
4️⃣ Complete your purchase through Meta as usual
