#Slag, we all have it and all hate it.....

A few suggestions as others may or may not have mentioned. Slag is one of the most daunting things to deal with it is produced excessively and required very little in production. Can we increase it's use in cement manufacturing to maybe 3 to 4 times more, also contracts do not give enough time to fill for large amount of slag, max cargo ship is 600 so a 12k contract requires 20 shuttles, even 4 level 5 belts feeding the shuttle bay can't keep up, the transition from shuttle landing to shuttle taking off and next one arriving takes to much time, either increase shuttle capacity or allow multiple landing pads (2, 3,4) as an upgrade to shuttle bay. As mentioned by others maybe an area on the surface designated as a dumping site. (100k-200k). Maybe have it used as paving material for surface roads increasing transportation routes, that would be very useful.

Plz no? Like I need more slag to feed the hydro farm, and the concrete things are sucking up too much usually.
I need more, so I do not have it. I want more, so I do not hate it.

HammerPD - The key to dealing with excess slag is to either dump it on the ground or sell it via moon contracts. Dumping is easy. Just sent it to storage and when the storage gets full you change the type of the storage container and it dumps anything not of that type on the floor. To do surface contracts you need to have 3-8 trucks , max upgrades if you can so you are loading 6000 units of slag per truck, hook your large storage directly to the expedition control center and only take contracts you can see from your base. Fully upgraded trucks take about 10 days to go 1500 km then add another 2-3 days to load each truck. I've successful done a few contracts and its quite a PITA to fill up each truck with the current UI, but you can get 100-500k or more per contract.

4x large storage with mark 5 belts fills up a truck pretty fast.

5 upgraded to tier 2 (one off to the side not in pic)

Hmm 2 for me is giving me more than enough, of course I haven't really sold any major volume so you maybe correct. But I'm constantly tearing things down and moving modules around trying to get a good something efficient, instead of what looks like a bowl of spaghetti

Having one per MRR is central to my module design 😄 So it isn't as much about "I need concrete" as it is about "this is how the module works" 😄

#

And the point is eating slag, to be fair.

You know I'll try your numbers, I'll build 4 more and see if it will make a dent in my slag....a lot easier to sell cement than slag anyway

Normally I just dump slag, but this run I decided to try selling it instead.

I have ZERO smart concrete factors. I save all my Si for making micro circuits and nanotubes.

I wish you could fit more per shuttle, because some of the slag contracts are money-negative given how much they want vs. shipping cost vs. payout.

I'm piping all the slag from 2 or 3 ice extractors into the base.

#

I'm using pressing modules to make bricks

#

This is the layout for the the top side processing. I use the programmable splitters to direct Si+Al up one lane, and Ti+Fe up the other lane. Then balance out the numbers so they eat enough not to overflow. I had to add a couple extra over on the right side for the return.

#

The raw mats go down and around the base on a T3 belt and into this mess

#

then up to storage for contracts

Yeah, I get that but my OCD kicks in when seeing stuff on the ground😂

i am a little late to the party, but i found a pretty decent way to get rid of slag via contracts. Set up FCCs ( I use 8) . each FCC gets its own large storage. 3 out of 4 storage ports feed into FCC, the 4th port accepts output of FCC. The key that all intake ports of FCC get fed from its own storage, and all belts are lvl 5. Using this approach, pods are prefilled right before they land and immediately take off. So far i have fufilled 40k slag contracts with zero issues and broke even. On 20k contracts that have 7-8day bonus time, i actually make money. Couple nuances. When i am fufilling slag contract, I do not allow drone loading on FCCs, so they are purely belt fed. When not doing slag contract, i keep 4 FCCs powered down, and other 4 FCCs allow drone loading for all other contracts

Happiness is finding this contract about 7 days away from base.
