#Stuck in ore detector scanning with no interface
8 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Yes it's to do with getting the games objectives completed while the scanner is active i get it all the time.
Reporting in from July 19th of 2025, I joined the Discord to report this. Slightly different description, but the same result - While using the ore detector, if an objective is reached that spawns a message/voice clip/dialog, after that is dismissed, you are still in the ore detector zoomed out viewport with the "return" button at the bottom, but the ore detector properties window is no longer there - you have to return to the normal viewport, and re-click on the ore detector in order to scan again.
Will edit with template, just placing this here temporarily while I go hunt it down to copy/paste.
- Game version: 0.99.15
- Bug description: Went to go use the Ore Detector and discovered it saying "Scanning", no button to press/activate, and persists through save file.
- Context how bug happened: No clue
- If you were able to reproduce bug - steps to reproduce: Unsure as I've been having random glitches of energy popping up this game... which makes me suspect it may have something to do with that. I'd get random energy shortage warnings, things would constantly say 0 energy, but they work, etc. This ore detector has been sitting there for several saves I should mention. I also want to mention that I've been TRYING to break the game some. I'm starting to notice if you are sloppy with your wiring, you get weird glitches.
- If it's repeats after loaded a save - include save files where it's reproducible: Included.
Can confirm, no active/old mods on save and 1 ore scanner when powered just spins. no ability to activate scan, not registering battery balance, all others are unaffected, in all other ways it's working, still using 2 power and taking maintenance damage. @lavish dune
Hi!
Well, as I can see, your wiring is VERY complicated, and it got overlayed on same directions, so you can't really see where this ore scanner got disconnected (you can try to, tho 😄 )
I tried to reconnect it using simple wiring and it works as intended now
Yeah this was my "try to break" save 😛 I forgot to mention that there were two of them that did that. One in the northern part of the base that everything had power except for that scanner, but was directly connected to a hot wire, and then the one on the east end. I did play around with it and concluded the same thing you did. A simple wiring around the middle.
