Note the on-screen clock at the top corner for the screenshots to make sense; the convyer belt disintegrates all the materials on it as soon as you finish the connection. But delete the connection, and it starts producing again.
#Hungry Conveyer Belt

yes, you have to route the conveyor ending into a building that really accepts regolith
So it's a known bug that connecting an Extractor to a none-regolith building disintergrates everything on the conveyer belt?
it just drops to the floor, no disintegration.
connect the extractor to a bulk storage, an ore refinery (single or multi). there is a nice tutorial about it.
the "drop from conveyor" function was recently changed, so that only if you connect it to the wrong "INPUT" things drop to the floor.
previously, it was very easy to drop the complete conveyor while changing recipes a.s.o.
it is as much a bug as a refinery won't accept slag and therefor - just not run at all if you do that
(trying to help here, please forgive me, i am just a helper)
Ohh yea, so it does. I missed the stuff going to the floor. Please forgive my blindness.
I was too focused on the stuff seeming to disappear. It being connected to the wrong thing never entered my head.
It is undocumented, but I learned that conveyor belts vomit material onto the ground whenever the destination is incompatible. For example, this happens if the belt is running between two storage boxes of steel, and you change the destination box to Helium-3, then any steel on the belt will be dumped.
This also happens if you change the output filter on a splitter, so be careful if you have really long belts full of stuff and you are tweaking the splitter settings. (Hmmm. It might be both input and output settings on splitters. My memory is vague on this.)
