#Make finding titanium mineral nodes more deterministic

What almost made me restart/quit the game was my inability to find my first titanium node. I think the spawn location for titanium nodes are too rng dependent and bad rng node spawn locations can be demotivating. Randomly scanning without knowing how far to look for it doesn't feel fun for bad rng runs, coupled with waiting for the sun to come up just to pray and spray the scans again. Game becomes stagnated for a while at this point since titanium is a gatekeep to the progression. Having now found a node and knowing its distance, I wouldn't have minded as much if I knew the scale of which how far I needed to scan is this amount of distance.

I propose:

  1. Given the sparsity of ore nodes in general, increase the scan angle/radius or decrease the power cost for scans. Though this may make it too easy after early game with scaling issues.
  2. Have a set spawn for the first titanium node to be close to the elevator. Probably the best way to implement.
  3. As part of the tutorial, show a highlight of how far I may need to scan to find the first titanium node. Gives the players a sense of what scale of distance we should be thinking of to find mineral nodes.

Wish there was a sort of default start (like guarantee the 5 started deposits in x range, say 30 blocks, from center

I also spent hours before finding Titanium and it also gave me energy problems. The mechanic of 'paying' power for scan is also weird

I am stuck early game attempting to make components and realizing I need titanium. I don't even know how to begin learning how to begin finding titanium. Currently I dismantled my silicon production to eek out 1 titanium bar every 5 minutes but this can't be the answer.

Would recommend sacrificing a live chicken to the RNG gods to better your odds

I haven’t even found where the ore scanner is in the research, I wish we could preview the nodes

2nd row middle one I think

Oh, prospecting. Not scanning

#

Tutorial help is really needed with this

The thing you build is called ore scanner

“Ore detector” so yet a different term lol

So what I should have done is prospect, find titanium, set up extraction and refining, then build component factory, THEN get asked to repair the truck

I am so hopelessly lost

#

Ehhh

#

What you should do is ignore missions at first

austere tapir

That’s actually really good advice lol

Build up energy infrastructure and a small stockpile of basic resources

Don't build a cargo platform until you really low on cash

Oh I’m still figuring out how to belt regolith around so I’m a ways from that
