Same thing happens to me too. I've got a very strong pc with a 3060Ti and it keeps happening in the arachnotopia level and can't progress. I have a thread too here but noone bothered. Hope someone sees it soon for both of us
EDIT: found a solution, on steam right click the game, go to properties and on the launch options you add -dx11 close the window restart steam and play now. It fixed it for me
I have encountered a similar issue, occuring in the HSF vindicator and Artois manor with the game crashing, same error message, the dx11 fix has not worked, adding a delay to the computer registry, has not worked, altering graphical settings has not worked, game only rarely crashed before the April 19 update, now it consistently crashes within each 10 minutes of playing the game
dude this fixed my problem not launching at all ty!
If you haven't tried this already, you might want to run the "verify integrity of game files" command in Steam and/or completely reinstall the game. Also, make sure you include the hyphen in the -dx11 launch option. And always a good idea to update your video drivers and restart your PC!
Unfortately i tried all of these options, and included the hyphen in the launch option, the game still frequently crashes but it is mostly playable, perhaps the kani engine dislikes intel drivers?
KIWF2 just uses UE5. And yeah - if you're running intel integrated graphics they're usually a bit underpowered. Maybe you're running out of video ram or something?
You might try turning the graphics down, even if you're hitting a good framerate.
No i thought of that too, i still had 28 Gigabytes or RAM left, i tried with all graphics settings and the aspekt Ratio in the in game settings
The game especially crashes in the vindicator next to the portal and also during the alpha one challenge battle
Hmm - like, when you're just standing next to the portal?
Mostly when looking at a bearing of 45 from the computer terminal, and also rarely when walking towards the portal
And you're getting the same error message that Chaos Gremlin originally posted?
If you've got that launch option correct, it shouldn't be possible to have the exact same error message. -dx11 should force UE5 to use DirectX 11 and the error message refers to DirectX 12.
Hmm, alright, the message was the same before the launch option, and IT did change afterwards i Will Go post the New error message as soon as possible
Sounds good! Please ping me when you upload it.
@bright egret here is my report, i neglected to mention a few things before so I included them here
crash 1, -dx11 option enabled, crashes upon bearing of 45
crash 2, dx11 option enabled, crashed shortly after opening the game
9 attempts total for running game on -dx11 setting, 2 per graphics setting from potato to epic, all crashed before able to proceed past the second room, i remember experiencing this issue after enabling the setting and so disabled it to actually play the game, sorry for not including that fact, the following are examples of the game crashing without the -dx11 setting
crash 3, same message as the one recieved by chaos gremlin, occuring most frequently during the portal room in the vindicator, and the second challenge of arachnitopia, but occurs everywhere else, -dx11 not used for this crash, however for some reason running my game with -dx11 causes the game to crash pratikalno immediately, as seen in the first two pictures.
Hmm...I really have no idea. Just doing some googling, it seems like it's some sorta conflict between the Unreal and your graphics drivers. Have you tried updating them?
i think they are updated but i can check again
At some point, I'm going to update the UE5 version that KIWF2 uses, and that might fix your problem...but it probably won't happen for a while. Until then, I think this is probably an issue that's beyond my capacity to fix.
alright, thank you for looking into it, the game was possible to complete fully however it still crashes every so often, other than that and the tape issue in the other bug report the game works perfectly, thank you again
Ok - good to hear! Thank you for your patience with this issue. I'm sorry I haven't been able to resolve it, but we'll hopefully fix it someday! 🤞
theres no way its that simple to fix
it's that simple...
