there's a logical explanation
consider your average FPS game - there's camping and flanking strats but if you are mechancially competent you can run straight at the cap, 5v1 some casuals and still come out with a good result
WoWs is not like that - you cross the map generously twice per match or less, you have one life per round, and your ability to win even a 2v1 is limited by game pace, relatively slow kills/reload and RNG 'averaging out' your damage output
The difference between a 48%er and a 55%er isn't really mechanical skill it's gamesense (AKA the 55%er reads the active match situation, the 48%er kills himself)
Most people playing WoWs have not figured out what mistakes are getting them killed since they only remember the last 30 seconds of their actions, so they rush mid and die again, again, and again, and only ever work out that 'my team was weak so I got focused'
