iirc it was just that there weren't enough differences between single-tiered carriers and they already have a lot of XP+creds to spend per new ship researched on the squadrons, so the odd tiers were taken out so there's a much larger difference between (for example) ryujo -> shokaku vs ryujo -> hiryuu -> shokaku

The Nelson has more tactical flexibility and durability. Which means it happens majority of targets better than the hood is the point. The only true edge the Hood has is being faster, at the cost of -far- worse bow on firepower and durability.
Ranked isn’t a 1v1, and ranked isn’t the entire game.
Believe what you will, maybe actually use the Nelson some for a change though.

technically speaking, yes, belt armor is less then Scharnhorst, her caliber is 33cm. which i support, round number cm, speed is abit slow for a BC with 29,5 Knots
also the class was originally built to counter the italian CA Trento. so it fits the role of a BC to hunt and sink cruisers
