@amber hull depends what class/type of gameplay you are enjoying mate.

Hard to judge a class at level 30 to be honest as they miss quite a lot of skills.

SM can be quite fun in PvP but not so much in group PvP because you are often target 1 and your main goal would be to survive long enough to cast a well-placed AoE fear, CC enemies & especially clerics.

If you don't intended to main it as a class it's also worth keeping as a money-making alt because SM is arguably the best solo PvE class.

pretty much what aselon said, + you should keep in mind that it is a mainly supportive dps class.
you do your rotations, perform well in long fights against bosses, but you dont have any burst.
means you cant outdps for kills - mobs and players
unless you are heavily into grinding solo elites or enjoy the gameplay that you more or less have by now, swap to something else.

Playing as a SM obliges you to use your pet, it is not always and everywhere needed, but if you know its correct use, then this simply must be done, otherwise either death will occur, or control will be followed by a quick death.

In particular, the use of pets is needed more for the pve part, no one has canceled the ability to pass Essoterace alone for this class.

In pvp, if we speak in the given realities of this patch, you need to know not so many tips in order to use it correctly.

Often these are just a couple of skills (important) such as, Spirit Substitution, Spirit Wall of Protection, Spirit Erosion.

However, for pve it is not replaceable, you can’t go anywhere without it, you can find more detailed information on the Internet on all sorts of videos that have existed for many years on this or that dungeon or grind.

Level 30 does not yet determine anything; all classes will not reveal their potential until they are fully pumped to the maximum level.

However, knowing that you played as a gunner before, I think this type of game will be more unfamiliar to you, since sm requires enormous endurance and accuracy, more speaking about group pvp, one mistake will cost the lives of all your relatives, since if there is a spiritmaster in the group , all pvp is built relatively to maintain your life, if you die, consider the battle lost.

Whether you need to switch to an archer is up to you, but I can say that you will have questions about the archer, but he will obviously be closer to your liking, only if you have not decided to change something in your playing style.

I appreciate the explanation. I might stick with SM for a bit longer to see how it goes. Sometimes I forget to command the spirit to attack and he just stands next to me while mob is attacking which is very confusing to me lol

There is few things I might argue a little like some pvp parts.. it might be cause of typo or me not understand right. but for stigmas sub you gonna exchange it alot depending on your content for pve is useless, in pvp must.. also in pvp sm need to know what to do so need alot of pvp knowledge to be good on pvp and I wouldn't call sm dead=lose sm is basically a sacrificial lamb on the loose main job is delay their main DPS long enough for your team to kill they backline and done if you delay long enough you will die most of cases but your team will win cause they don't have backline and if possible you use fear shriek

"S tier players" are only human and do make mistakes, despite them behaving like god and think they're perfect in a video game. personally SM got far better as I levelled up, it's not that much at lvl 30 but after lvl 45+ it gets amazing, but it's all up to personal preference as spirits are a major thing you have to have to utilise to play SM well

Sm is all about spamming vacuum choke. It is fun being able to solely kill the elites around your level. You will be farming money, recipes etc. You can have fun in Eltnen’s kaidan headquarters and Lepharists bastion, and Heiron’s indradu barracks.
