To get BLUE common shards you need a 5* blue. Then those shards for that 5* blue will now drop as BLUE common shards instead of its regular shards.
So the more blues you have at 5* the more shards that drop.
Process repeats for Purple, except you need BLUE SHARDS to start then PURPLE to bless.
Same for gold but gold needs GOLD and PURPLE to bless

It is a little tricky but let me try and break it down

They are 12 levels per artifiact. With an additional 5 stars to "enhance" plus the 1 to max

For blue you need 320 excess lvl 5 star shards (duplicates)

For purple lvl 3 star + you need excess blue shards then purple

For gold lvl 3 star + you need purple shards then gold

They are different methods to upgrading as at some point you need excess shards from blue.

My method is max lvl (12) gold atk artifacts (King's journey) etc and get them to lvl 3 stars while I wait for excess shards from the blue artifacts

I see that after a certain level, the cos of upgrade is much higher. And we can move on to some other weaker artifact and get maybe more stats by using less rss.

So maybe its better to upgrade good ones up to say level 5. Before going all out in one artifact?? Basically spreading ur rss

Best to enhance blues but not to level them but level the HP ones and level the purple up

You don't you only need them for 4 star and up and on top of that you don't have to spend any books on them , you should focus on lvling your good golds with 24 atk when max to lvl7s and the double hp and single atk 12% to lvl5 and than do purple atk ones to lvl3 and after that make the double 24 atk goldsb+ compass lvl8 and after that atk purples lvl5 if you want to optimize stats stars just do all atks to 3 star you gonna have enough brushes for that by the time you do the lvl8s

Why bless a blue one? The stats aren't that great on blue ones to waste materials all the way to blessing then. My advice is wait until you have a blue artifact that has over 200 shards and then start starring it. If you start early before 200 you may end up having another artifact that you can star all the way to 5 stars and have already wasted the brooms.

You need to keep in mind that some require fury tho so you wouldn't want them on a solo trap

You need first to get bleu to 5 stars then bless it and when you have spare you can use them to get purple stars at max then the same to fet gold at max stars

Yes sorry not needed to bkess ut but first getting 5 stars on a bleu one and then if you wanne get 4 stars on purple you need 120 duplicates of a 5 star bleu one
