Tips for building a pre-t4 solo trap

1. ZERO EXTRANEOUS MIGHT.
   This is the most important thing. No excess research might - don't even unlock Monster hunting. No wall, no quest might, be super selective about your familiars and quick swaps. Don't even unlock or upgrade all heroes. Select only the heroes you will have on your wall and don't upgrade any others. Same for familiars.
   Every drop of might must be necessary and accounted. Don't even have RSS buildings or extra familiar buildings.

2. Gear. It's hard and slow to build gear, but check out the pins in #🏹┊equipment

3. Then you build a comp, pick a front, and make a boatload of T3 in that troop type, with some backup T3 and a T2 backline of the troops that will be at the back of your formation to soak p5 damage.

Note: traps are hard. People think of it as extra fun because it sounds easy, because you can go on YouTube and see everyone trapping and capping big leads. What they don't show you is the times they get wrecked, the hours and hours spent waiting around pretending to be offline hoping someone takes the bait (and then of course some Titan actually slams you while you looked away for 5 seconds with a 1200% blast and you got spinning wheel of lag and your gear set delayed).

You can also try things like Gryphon trapping (having all your troops out on tiles or reins in guild castles and hit the Gryphon skill when someone attacks you.
Bait and switch trapping - where you have an alt with almost the same name as you, with some RSS out and while an attacker is sending raiding marches you quickly relocate to swap your Castle full of troops into the location of the alt, hoping to catch some easy kills and maybe a leader...

If you're just starting out, you don't need to be shielded. Keep troops in shelter, don't make much troops, and keep enough resources just under your vault limit so they can't be stolen.

Would allow you to save up shields for a bit

I moved to a guild in an open kingdom, so being shielded sounds good because it allows me to go gathering without being concerned. I'm constantly being scouted and sometimes attacked even with troops and leader in shelter xD

That assumes the player logged off a moment after applying the shield. If they also do stuff like double check gear, mailing friends and guild mates, sending out RSS or whatever normal people do when they're planning to go offline for over a day and putting a 2 week shield on. There's usually more than a few minutes. But I have a couple dozen bookmarked castles who are permashielded without guild around the edge of the map. If one moves, I go ham searching to find it. There's usually a Castle to be found with troops, leader and loads of RSS.

With breakthrough bonus and a few of the winning start and new adventure packs , I got a castle to 25 in under a week for about $70. Probably could have done it in a day or two if I wasn't trying to complete guild fest quests and hell events along the way.

If it's your first battalion, start with what you're most likely to use. If your guild is rallying wonders often, set what the rally lead asked for most commonly. If you're soloing stuff, start with the blast lineup you use most... But assuming you're a very new player and to don't do any of those things much yet - don't worry about it. Battalion are free to change and you don't really need them yet

That's why you have a shield

You build the T2 so that they become your troops that die first while your T4 survive. T2 are cheap and quick to heal / rebuild.

If you only have the weak T2 and not the T4, you'll just be destroyed.
If you only have the T4 and not the T2, it will cost way too much.

If you're serious about the game, save your guild coins for migration scrolls.
But yes, it's 1000 gems to change talents. Try to make a mixed talent set that's maybe not maximum effect for a single purpose but pretty good for a few things, so you don't need to change for every little activity. Some people suggest making "left side / right side" talent sets for war or economy, but you can mix up an economy set with troop training and a few basic war stats if you sacrifice hypering / gathering or construction (don't need once you finished buildings) talents. Then you can do training / research / and have enough hitting power for killing darknests most of the time. Etc. Most people don't need to be in a blast talent set for each troop type either, unless they're doing high level war (but at that level you can afford the gems without thinking about it)

Different formations work better for different scenarios. Each troop type behaves differently. It's actually quite complex how they behave in various situations. You want to defend in a wedge (range or inf, never cav) ideally because your frontline is really two types and the ones at the side will counter whatever gets through your frontline.
If you're attacking, you only have the frontline troops as buffers so there's not many anyway and your main troops are all in a line at the back either way

If you're going to take a rally... What does the biggest rally lead in your K look like? Does anyone set doubles or triples?

Also keep in mind that your kingdom's current state won't stay "lower scale" for long. It will blow up and you'll need at least 12m troops to defeat a rally if you have good gear and counter. But it would hurt and you might not survive a second rally. 20m is better. That's not usually enough in open kingdoms

Newbies often fall into the trap of rushing their Castle upgrades. It's not a mistake, per se, but there's a lot of benefit to pacing it and taking advantage of some things as you level up (mostly easier hell events and watcher medals), plus your leader can't be held or executed before c17.

The real challenge isn't max Castle (25), it's Academy 25 and player level 60 that the true goal is

It's definitely gonna save you some time or money on getting to academy 25. It costs approximately 650k gems worth of items to unlock that building (which you need to unlock t4 troops), and vergeway gives some of those items for free.

Apparently I'm abnormal because I like verge and I find it easy, but for those who don't, there's a bunch of videos on YouTube that show how to beat every stage

Songstress of the sea is one of the best heroes you can get to use as your leader. She has a high army atk boost and great stats, and she's one of the cheapest paid heroes. But it's really only worth getting if you're going to get it all the way to gold (330 medals, so it takes a while buying the $5 pack every few days - week... Or you can throw a bunch of cash at it and go faster but it's not worth it)
