Firstly if possible buy the 20$ diamond pass in the diamond shop on the offical website, buy the gold pass, 30 day bonus, based on what your end goals you can save can save up and wait to buy packs for gear when +1 event comes
I otherwise wouldn't buy packs unless there is some event that gives some bonuses

Tbh that monthly 20$ pass by itself goes a long way by itself if you spend it right

But anyways, i think i could help more out if you tell your goal with your account

It helps out with some really important gear sets a little (like: shaman set, hardox set, t5 troop training set) and on avg it gives around 6k-10k gems, but if you get lucky it gives much more.
The 10 luck tokens are pretty good too especially if you save them up
I think it gives around 8m gold too

If you buy both diamond passes (20$ monthly and 2$ weekly) you can buy 1 super savings each day when it is in the shop for somewhat "technicaly free"

always buy Kingdom Labor pass as possible for the Technolabes , Breakthrough / Lucky Card / Gem Pass are great sources of gems that you wanna try getting along with saving gems and gathering from gem lodes you'll be getting enough for 600k to reach Academy 25 if you're patient with the building upgrades

make sure you're working on Econ and primary Military research till they're maxed coz you'll need all of that for T4s , do not bother with unlocking Wedge rn unless you're copying those T3 Frontline meta solo traps . . Defense isn't worth the bother as well
