i think nobody really knows how it works entirely because its always different in different cases. Retargetting just describes when one of your squads killed a full enemy squad to what else enemy squad it will retarget. You always want to retarget to a squad you will counter so your cav squad on an enemy inf squad. To do that people try different things so their squads will retarget on the enemy squads they want. Hope its understandable. Please add any information if i forgot them

Shields are both good in offense and defense but more useful while defending

40% debuff fams are not much good in offense . But they are still somewhat useful in defense

Weevil and acquiris also goes on only wall if you have better offensive familiars
