I'm also but not much experienced, I usually recommend HP to attack when defending when you have a large troop comp however, when defending with a smaller comp, what's the point of having more HP than atk when you'll lose almost the same amount of troops without it? Well,times have changed with the recent updates and smalls comps are no longer much useful these days. I've seen 18m troops being burnt even when they counter 1150+%

Here, the defender countered but still got 1.6m damage on the frontline. The castle was burnt too. 27M troops defending

Depends how much your max hp drops. I've taken rallies in blast set and countered and did much worse than in mix due to significant hp reduction

Well, I use it in my mix...but for me it serves as range protection. Just because I use a range front, my high cav stats kill inf faster when I'm countered so I don't mind having it in my mix set.

Drum is considered bad for mix because it only serves 1 troop type and it isn't recommended to sit in cav front when defending. Unless baiting or you know it's inf coming.

This is the same for terror vial.

People recommend accessories like cup, blight ring and burning scroll as they serve more than 1 part of an army

I'm always in range front and I hardly switch. I like taking inf attacks in range front because my high cav stats decimates them before they deal much damage to range.

So far, after my troops reached 5m+ troops, I've gotten reds Twice, after taking some rallies on my solo trap and when I didn't heal in between 2 strong counters, 926% and 1034% inf where I took only 183k t2 reds.

You can substitute

Main hand -> frostwing sword -> skullcrusher (depends on lvl)

Accessories -> cup or ring for burning scroll (depending on lvl)

Boots -> blackwing boots -> tidal titan boots

Off hand -> mitts -> codex (depending on lvl)

Atk has more value than HP when defending rallies with a small comp like around 12M and below. At this point cordex is better than mitts.As your comp grows,the value of HP increases. at this point mitts are the better than cordex.

Yeah. My point was on HP and Atk. Even when you're building a bigger comp and you can't have it at once. Sometimes you may want to take a hit like during kvk or you're caught in fury. Your comp isn't complete yet and is around 13m troops. More atk would be greater than HP though you still need all of them.

For f2p who can make one champ piece to green or maybe blue, the best suggestion is as mentioned: either boots or offhand (go inf on either choice).
It comes down to, boots for travel speed with added army HP, or offhand for training speed.
Which you choose is personal choice really, depending on what you think you'll get more utility out of.

One consideration to keep in mind is there's literally no other pieces that give training speed for offhand (and only hardrox chest and boots), while you can make saberfang boots for travel speed.

All that said, if your luck on manes stretches to making the armour even to blue and you keep a minimal comp, you can be food positive even with 8-10m troops

Thanks for the input. Overall I decided to use gold cup for inf (replacing vial) and mix sets, while keeping ring on range set, since mythic blight ring with its pure range jewels would beat out gold cup with mix jewels

I don’t have any extra gold range atk jewels yet, so putting gold inf atk, gold terror, and gold champ jewel on cup

I need high cav as much as possible, so it's meaningful for me to use the drum as one of the accessories. I'm doing it because I've actually tested it, with a range front and a purple ring I get more loses against inf solos than when I have my drum with range front and inf soloed.
