First hand experience. I’ve taken countless rallies. Admittedly its far too late for me to switch to the codex and give you an accurate result. As my stats are roughly 700 mix. And I can take counters from people in no gear without severe consequence. However, I do have a guild mate thats always used the codex. He’s faired pretty well, until he had 6 rallies coming his way on a weakened comp. He’s always had between 38m-45m troops. And generally knows what he’s doing defensively. Im not saying you cant get away with more att and less hp, but if theres a mistake made? It’ll hurt a lot more without hp lol.

Go for mix gears first. It does not make a big difference when your blast is only 50% higher than your mix. Considering how many unnecessary rare drops needed it is not worth making blast gears that use the same rare drops as your mix gear

All I did was swap to 20% def and won. Same load out

And main hand could be chosen of the queen bee or tidal Titan swords
