They definetly check if your army gathered the amount of a full lvl 5 tile because otherwise you would be able to just collect the last 30k of the field but that isnt possible. But the question is if the also check if you finished a lvl 5 tile. If they dont you can also gather in mirage realm for that quest. Otherwise you cant.

Never worth it to spend money on these puzzle events unless you are a whale imo. It gives a false image of "being close" at 90%+ to bait you into spending while the chance of getting the last few pieces is super small.
Also neither the army nor the castle skin give stats so I wouldn't recommend spending on it anyway.

If you train enough troops, you'll max out the hammers. As long as you have enough hammers, you can finish even after event ends as long as it's still in event bar. Those are the only tips I've got...
