Today I switched from WPA to Slippery One since there's no special event tower now, can't reuse kards in FWSM.

Too bad I could only get 3/5 with it though.

Snare is the worst of all kombat effects/debuffs. And it lasts forever.

I also switched from a mastered (5/5) Combat Veteran to Unbreakable Will, as I couldn't tell any difference with it. I still was getting ktfo.

It was my first time ever using it. I had it for quite some time too. Never sensed any difference. What a waste.

What do you guys think, it'd be nice to have the required or acceptable conditions named for the efficacy of Specials, such as close, medium and far as is often stated in other fighting games?

Some character's X-Ray, for example, will miss if not close to the enemy, while others like KSK's will connect regardless of your distance.

Jade's easily misses if not close. Raiden's misses if beyond medium range.

KRdn's two-part SP2 can miss on the first if not close, but for the second part of it, he closes the gap and it's unblockable.

Recovery is uber important!

In FWSM, I find myself seeking to equip my team with recovery boosting gear. That talent maxed would make tagging-out more beneficial.

I was under the impression that shield break only worked against fighters who have shield as an SP buff.

So, I didn't consider as important. I suppose I've been wrong.

Yeah. Depending on how offensive / aggressive your teams are, Horse Stance, of the three would perhaps be a wise choice but, on the other hand, as you seem to imply, Mongoose Stance would work with any gameplay style, anywhere.
