For the most part, their SPs are their most worrisome attacks. There is plenty of gear that reflects Basic Attacks on a % of chance. So, pd is quite important.

I have diamond Liu Kang paired with two bronze ones and one of the bronze cards boosts Liu Kang's stats.

But if I take out that bronze card and replace it with another bronze one (even weaker one) it doesn't boost anything

Play Survivor Mode until you've used all of the characters with bonuses. Choose only one worth x5.0 and add two to the team, both x1.6. Play the hardest Level that you have unlocked. And try to survive at least six or seven matches. When you can only use Gold cards with bonuses less than x3.0, use strong cards whether or not they have bonuses to help your team win the final battle of the tower.
