It's definitely good to switch up. The problem is that many don't want to take a break long enough to pore over their possible options before just snatching up a different player and winding up losing again. If time allows, be patient and contemplate gear/passive/character and maybe even talent combos to suit a particularly difficult match.

I've found a solution for fatal match 180: I used a kold war team (scorpion, sub zero and sonya, all geared up w edenian tools) swap them frequently, and use sp2 to regain ice armor. I needed 9 matches to beat them (day of the dead kitana was the last one standing)
