Tower equipments are the best equipments in the game; you do not need to purchase diamonds as they can be grinded for free and they are here to stay forever. Tower equipments do not stay for long, and they take a while to get.

All tower equipment is in someway useful outside of the tower. Just take a look at living dead, cybernetic heart, viper hood, etc. All tower equipments are useful

So just over 100 tries. Your probably not gonna beat it in that time no. Unless you one phase the bosses which may not be possible for you
