I did so much damage with Rain and Raiden I didn't need to tag in Lui Kang to uncure. I think he's there incase they get regen and to passively apply cripple and fireball.

Even a low level pipe is good because it's main purpose is to yank their buffs away from them. FX pipe just means you do extra damage if you're not debuffed.
