In my experience over the last 2 years, that has been the requirement for most challenges, a team made up of only the characters mentioned in Elder.
Only recently I noticed it change which was a shock to me, unless it had been like that and I'd just been sticking to the original requirement of specific characters

What's the best way to speed through a double challenge.
Pay gold on towers 1,2,3 & 4 and only battle tower 5 ?
Repeat for hard, then on Elder play only Tower 4 & 5 ?
Is anyone actually battling through all the towers ?
