So first of all, all factions have different faction points you need to be able to hit kombatant so you wanna look for a faction that has the least faction points to acquire it usually the lowest is like 99k-100k faction points after that just do normal quick play or if you got decent characters go for survivor even if you cant beat it just try to build up as much faction point you can to get to kombatant
Thats what I am doing right now since I dont got good characters i’m still in the beginner part

I remember at launch all the gold characters had 2 versions except quan chi. He and Assassin Kitana (and I think 1 more but I don't remember who) were special because they were locked by packs and you couldn't just buy them

Back when all the characters were available to just buy outright from the store at all times except for a very few. Cutthroat Kano (now Black Dragon Kano) was unique cause he cost 99k koins instead of costing souls, and when the first challenge was released (TG Raiden) he cost 299k koins

#

Those were the only two golds you could ever get for koins, and the next challenge kard (if memory serves me right it might've been erron black) was released they upped the price so "normal" golds was 250 and challenge golds were 450

#

Actually the second challenge might've been piercing mileena not erron black
