Generally characters in the same team synergise well as a rule of thumb. I'd advise you browse your collection and read your fighter passives to see what each can do and how they pair with others. Eg. A DOT team will benefit from Ravenoud Mileena, Mk11 Scorpion, Sektor, etc. And some characters offer more utility for the entire team such as Covert Ops Cassie giving unblockable chance to all Spec Ops and Ninjutsu Scorpion giving bonus atk to all Martial Artists
