Many ways like klassic reptile has a quest tower sometimes and there are challenges like dark Raiden is currently active and there are packs to buy with souls which you can earn in many ways like the quest towers, challenge tower and other way and the new update will provide with you with a free diamond and plenty of enough resources to gain even more characters helping plenty for your condition and making a lot of it easier but I wouldn't say focus on just characters off the bat you should focus on saving for new events but expect any possibility
