There are no bad cards. Also you need to try properly before you judge. I don't have all MK1s at high level to use them in Towers and Elder Krypts to know all aspects like effectiveness against bosses, their overall kits, gears, synergy.

Only based on level of fun to play, MK1 Kenshi and MK1 Scorpion are really fun. I like MK1 Shang with Elixirs and you can time him right to chain. Mileena has her tarkatan hunger, Smoke has his own utility. So everyone's favorite and worst card is subjective. I like all MK1s so far. Fluid and fun.

I'll be honest with you. Krypt is like the end game of MKM so you need have atleast a few maxed out golds and diamonds to have a great team. Also since the bonus requirements keep changing every week sticking with one team for base amount of hearts will make you grind a lot.

I suggest buying the KC Team, CO Cassie, Hanzo from character store and getting one copy of KL Scorpion ASAP from Faction War Store.

Build up collection some more and then start preparing for krypt. For now, finish Battle Mode and do Faction Wars as much as you can.

If you make an SP1 team, Smoke and Shang are better. Smoke provides 20% debuff resistance to klassic teammates and if you resist any debuff (from any teammate), that debuff will be reflected to the enemy. So it can keep you pretty safe. And Shang can assist you with his laser on SP1 attacks that deal extra damage. It is one of the best gold teams you can use early on. Higher the fusion the better but people often reach very high in towers with this team. Most early game content can be finished with this. I personally never use Klassic Sub Zero so I won't comment on him but I have seen people making him work.
