how you activate them are different

brutalities require a 40% chance on combo enders

friendships have a special meter to the side which you need to fill

a sp1 = 1/4th meter
a sp2 = 1/2th meter
and an xray/fatal blow will instantly fill it up

it has its ups and downs

friendships are a bit harder to setup, but are guaranteed, while brutalities are always accessible via combo enders, just a bit random
