At elder and khaotic, as a beginner, your biggest enemy will be block breaker reduction gears, so you need to find strategies to get past them.

Me personally when I was starting elder, I used none other than classic scorpion and classic smoke to beat elder. Scorpion's sp1 is just too good.

I kinda did fine in my first run honestly the issue was my health is too low I get basically killed easily within 2-3 hits

Then you need fx golds, f7 f8 diamonds, or use stones.

getting killed in 2 3 hits just means you have no shield gears or your characters are just low fusion

I have scorpion with applying bleed so when both fire and bleed gets stacked on enemies they drain health like crazy fast but on bosses it becomes an issue cause they're immune to dots, so I rely on liu kang there more as he can dodge their special attacks too, and use scorpion for applying cripple mainly and buying time for liu kang to heal

And to be honest I'm not really good at blocking damage lol that's my issue with every game I've played ever

Boss fights will mostly have block breaker reduction gears and you will almost never be able to break their blocks, that's where characters like KL liu kang and mk11 scorpion might get punished if you cannot properly do the combo loop with scorp.
