So you will never know the answer before you try
And from my own experience I don’t know if it’s true or just coincidence ! When you use low fused up characters the elder crypt feels a bit easier.

The status is lower but doesn’t affect their equipment

You will still fight against opponents that have shield invulnerability or max out tanuki those staff doesn’t go away
