No. Hearts do not count becuase they are not in the pool below. This states you get hearts and then 1-2 cards from the pool. This used to read 0-1 but now it reads 1-2. Therefore there should be at least 1 card rewarded every battle, or they shouldn't have changed the text

Dragon: do sp3 multiple times (not sure how many but at least once per 2-3 battles)
Shark: use DOTs repeatedly (applying it offscreen also works like klassic reptile's passive)
Lion: skip chests (not all exactly, you are good skipping uncommon and common chests only)
Frog: Do none of the above.
Polar Bear and Tarantula i am not sure what the exact requirement is.
