It just shows you the number of items you collected during that particular krypt run . So say you begun the run with 1 small life stone and collected 3 more during the run and used all 4 , at the end of the run it'll tell you you collected 3 small life stones but you wouldn't have any in your inventory since you already used all .

This is how I understand it . I hope this helps
