Battery is fully charged, never used this saber for dueling, but the audio distortion seems to have gotten worse. Is it time for a new saber or is there a way I can fix this?

hmm.... what board is powering it?

lucid merlin

bit outdated ik

bright ridge

hmm. Well assuming the battery is charged and still in good working condition, and if the SD card is still good (not fragmented and still good on read speed), then it would be time for an upgrade in terms of the board since it would likely mean something is starting to fail on the board.

Im thinking about getting a proffie but I heard if you wanna add more sound fonts and costomize its a steep learning curve

#

plus yk

price

lucid merlin
#

cuz idk what the v3 can do compared to v2

bright ridge
#

it can have a high learning curve in comparison to starter boards like Xeno or SNv4, but in terms of customizability it's far superior.

Not sure outside of using a CFX to do a speed test tbh. Probably something like that with proffie, but not sure what you would use on the PC to check it's read speeds.

bruh

#

welp

#

time to make some poor financial decisions

tbh, the hilt is still fine, you might be able to get away with installing a new board. Plenty of smiths here that can do it.

lucid merlin

I am so confused

#

I just took out the microsd, plugged it into my pc, tried to reinstall everything on the board, figured out the website I bought the saber from deleted the place you're supposed to get the firmware from, changed nothin on the card, removed it, put it back in my saber, and now it works fine

like tf

heh, well, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

????

bright ridge
#

... you've never heard that expression?

lucid merlin
#

never

bright ridge
#

basically, don't question a good thing.

lucid merlin
#

alright then

#

this will not stop me from making poor financial decisions at the next comic con

bright ridge
#

in the way of sabers... I would steer clear of ones that are readily available at cons. Best to do the research and get something really good.

lucid merlin
#

but now I'll have 2 fully operational lighsabers

lucid merlin
#

good advice

#

its like Disney selling water for $5 a bottle when you could get like a 16 pack at publix for 2 bucks

#

makes sense

bright ridge
#

well, also the fact that most the con available sabers are from either resellers or US. the reseller ones there are for sure usually better options online, US.... that one is a poor choice anywhere.

soft silo
#

US owner is...lowest of the low. Please avoid them, and encourage any others to do the same.

#

Best quick and easy, is Amazon. Look for 'coupons' in green bars when browsing for best price, and if you see the cell phone image with the Xeno Configurator on the phone, yer about guaranteed it's Xeno3. Got my last saber for $144. It wasn't Xeno3, but I bought it because I really wanted that specific saber hilt, didn't wanna wait, and wanted it to come installed...
But you can find real deals like this one:

bright ridge

poor quality electronics and install (hot glue, substandard parts, electrical tape, etc). As for the owner, he's gotten into fights at cons, pulled a gun on an employee, etc. Always responds negatively to any sort of criticism at cons (constructive as well).

lucid merlin
#

by US you do mean ultrasabers right?

bright ridge
#

yep

lucid merlin
#

ah that makes sense. I was looking at their website and they don't have any traditional electronics or blades. Most sabers only come with one color for some reason and all the boards are names I don't recognize.

#

I feel like the company targets people that don't really know anything about lightsabers

bright ridge
#

yep, which is how they stick around.
