Uh so I tried to solder a led strip to a lightsaber forge bored and uh it's not going so well I'm new to saber building and if someone could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated

looks like it might be an issue with the strip timings, which board are you trying to use?

Just took one from a darth Vader electronic lightsaber forge toy

got a store page or the like, that one isn't ringing any bells.

Hmm

yeah, likely the main reason. Can I see a picture of the board itself?

If you got the soundboard from a toy, you're going to have a tough time getting any led strip to work with it. Those toys are designed for some very specific led strips, and you can't just solder on any led strip. It doesn't look like the led strip you've got soldered onto it has very optimal spacing for the leds either.

You could theoretically force compatibility with most LED strips by soldering a different microcontroller to soundboard that can translate the signal from the soundboard into one the led strips can understand, but I don't really see the point of such an exercise. You won't have smooth swing, and you will be very limited for what blade effects you could add to it unless you are very good at coding blade styles for a custom board

Well I'm ok with no smooth swing and limited effects and I did get the led strip to work its not very bright because I think the bored is limiting the power so I think a pnp type transmitter should work (note I got this info from a video)

I mean, if it's a learning project for you cool, just that there are better options in terms of electronics for sabers out there.

Well yes I own 2 pixel sabers I just chose to build this

I'm honestly surprised you got the led strips working. I look forward to seeing how this build goes.
