#Suggestion: Auto-Reconnect & Non-Blocking Disconnection Message in Multiplayer

I’ve noticed that in multiplayer I sometimes get disconnected even when my internet is stable. The game itself keeps running fine, but the problem is that a big error popup appears on the screen saying I’m disconnected, and I have to dismiss it before continuing.

Would it be possible to change this behavior so that:
• Instead of a blocking popup, it just shows a small status line like “Failed to connect.”
• The game then automatically retries connecting every 10–15 minutes without me needing to do anything.

That way, I can keep playing without interruption, and the reconnect process happens in the background.

Someone had already made a similar suggestion, especially when it comes to reconnecting players to the server which I already discussed so many times that it isn't very much possible considering that the multiplayer servers run in real-time, meaning everything moves simultaneously depending on the latency, so if one tries to reconnect to where they last end up, it simply isn't possible. It's not like other multiplayer games like CODM that doesn't even use real-time multiplayer but separates matchmaking servers.

Plus on how the server was designed is very different, so even if we take this into consideration, that would literally put the developers into square one into redesigning on how the RFS server works.

I get that it’s not possible to reconnect me back to the exact spot where I got disconnected because of how the servers work. But what I’m suggesting is different — if the game disconnects, it should just retry connecting automatically and then put me back online from my current location as if it were a fresh multiplayer join.

That way, I wouldn’t have to dismiss a popup or restart the connection manually, and it wouldn’t break immersion.

Either way, the servers will need updates one way or another to improve handling of disconnections, so this could be a way to make it smoother for players.

It does from personal experience. Sometimes my internet connection disconnects for some reason. Here, the game attempts to reconnect for several minutes and when my internet comes alive again, usually within 2 to 3 min max, the game reconnects successfully. However, at some other instances eventhough my internet connection is strong it does disconnect. In these cases it may be server issues.

Ok thanks for that, so im not just losing my mind here, but at tje same time i would love to see this issue being solved in the future

I agree, none of us like being disconnected especially when it’s not due to our own internet connection. I’m with you on that. However, we can’t really expect to stay connected to multiplayer after the system has already tried multiple times to reconnect. Once the disconnection message appears, we as users have two choices either quit and start a new flight, or continue the current one and still receive FP.

My earlier comment was based on the fact that this issue has already been suggested several times, and as per the guidelines, we’re asked to search for similar reports before creating a new one. That said, yes this is definitely an issue that needs to be addressed.
