The name is Stacy fakename. Doesn’t matter what they look like, sound like, they don’t have to be feminine like most Stacys would be either.

#

Just commit so hard to the bit

#

“Are you saying you don’t believe me about what my own name is?”
“Ofc it’s my real name, just as real as yours”
Etc

#

The backstory can also be whatever. But depending on what kind of person you are I’d probably just try to learn SUPER HARD into whatever trope you want

#

Like the whole traumatic backstory trope, the Mary sue trope, etc.

I know that there are probably no DMs who actually use the Tarrasque as a boss fight since the base DnD Tarrasque is a joke for lv 20 players but in case someone actually wants to use it and wants to give it a range attack, I have an idea.

It roars. Very loudly. Louder than a whale's call. Seriously sound based attacks are underrated when they're ridiculously destructive irl

The roar would be a good AoE con save attack that would stun players as you said

Wotc made everything suck if we’re being honest. Switching to pathfinder is a great decision

It sucks so much that I end up having more homebrew monsters in my campaign than actual DnD monsters

#

Yea

And I'm planning to be adding a bunch of my own Homebrew rules/feats to make combat more engaging after the current DnD break since I have to study for my exams

#

If I ever use the Tarrasque for a campaign, the only similarities between my version and the DnD version would likely be the name and design xD

Give it some kind of jump attack too

Who needs to fly when you can jump good

Btw does anyone else like giving their monsters certain Class abilities e.g. Sneak Attack

#

Because I'm giving my Vampire villain a bunch of PC Class abilities in order for the villain to not get wrecked by my players instantly

#

Yea I do it all the time

Alright so I'm in a bit of a conundrum with regards to one of the main villains in my current campaign

#

So basically the villain is called Fiend Jester and he's a lich, kinda, who abandoned his actual name after he died. As the name implies, he acts like a clown and plays the role of a jester for an even stronger true lich with the Fiend part being more of a description of his fiendish, sadist nature rather than him literally being a Fiend. (that had actually caused some confusion for my veteran player before it was clarified)

Now the original theme for the character would be The Fool Tarot card since he's a jester. He has two different "modes", a normal mode where the character theme is the Upright Fool card specifically where he has the ability to negate harmful effects if he's unaware of it (ofc there will be limitations otherwise it's too powerful and unbeatable, still trying to think of the limits) and while in this mode, he tends to intentionally drag out fights, taunting his enemies and even giving them a chance to heal (aka the emergency button if I accidentally made the fight too brutal) to make fighting his enemy more entertaining in the long run. He also has a more defensive battle style where he uses mid-ranged attacks and will attempt to get out of his enemy's attack range to be safe and frustrate the enemies. Basically he plays with his food in this mode

The second mode is more of a Burst Mode and the character theme changes to the Fool Upside Down card. In this mode, he's practically insane and has extremely strong pyromancy abilities (the actual ability is to revert things back to nothing but that's complicated and idk how to properly explain it). Unlike the regular mode, he goes all out to immediately destroy his enemies as fast as possible which is something that he finds joy in, the more destruction he can cause in a short amount of time, the more fun it is for him. While in this mode, he acts a lot more impulsive and reckless, forsaking his own safety in order to damage his enemies. Basically an actual fool who only wants momentarily joy

#

But then I had another idea for his Burst Mode, where instead of having the theme as the Fool Upside Down, the character theme would match more of the Devil Tarot card which would better explain the "Fiend" part of his nickname. Admittedly I haven't done much research on what the Devil Tarot card symbolizes, but I'm wondering if I should consider switching the theme of his Burst Mode from the Fool Upside Down to the Devil since it might also allow me to have more inspirations for both modes since I can use both the Upright and Upside Down themes for them

Actually I guess I should share some details about Fiend Jester's backstory as well

Alright so Fiend Jester was originally a court jester (surprising I know) who was beloved by the royal family and he had a pretty good life as a result. During his time serving as a court jester, he would occasionally listen to the worries of the king in private and one of the concerns of the king was his own death. The king would explain to Fiend Jester why he had feared death and eventually after listening to the king repeatedly confiding in Fiend Jester about his worries of how he will die one day, Fiend Jester started to grow afraid of death himself, unable to imagine his fate after death. Due to that, he fell into a depressive state which caused him to be unable to properly perform his duties as a court jester and as a result, the members of the court didn't find him entertaining anymore and had elected to replace him with another court jester.

After being replaced, Fiend Jester's mental state declined even further along with his fear of death as he realized that if things had continued the way it had been, he'd end up dying alone as a peasant, forgotten by the world. His fear had made him start to consider something he didn't dare think of before: escaping death by becoming an immortal undead. He would start to dabble in necromancy and it was at this point where his future boss, the stronger lich, had noticed him and offered to turn him into a lich for "free". Of course Fiend Jester was sceptical about the deal since it didn't benefit the greater lich at all, but he still agreed to become a lich with the help of the greater lich. Due to Fiend Jester not being a powerful wizard who acquired the knowledge of transforming into a lich himself, he had become a weaker version of the usual lich, but was still immortal so Fiend Jester didn't particularly mind it. After his newfound immortality, Fiend Jester decided to leave the kingdom he was born in to go explore the world for himself.

A few centuries later on another continent, Fiend Jester would decide to return to his original kingdom, only to find that it was destroyed by another nation and was already forgotten by the world. This would be when he falls into another depressive state, realizing that in the end, nothing matters as over a long period of time, anything and all accomplishments would be buried by the sands of time, left behind by the world. At first, he was completely lost in life, believing that though he had gotten what he wished for, immortality, his entire life was now without a purpose as in the grand scheme of the world, no matter what he does, everything he does is meaningless.

While he was in this depressive state of nihilism, the greater lich who had converted him into a lich had managed to find his location, deciding to have a talk with Fiend Jester about his new immortal life as a lich. Fiend Jester would tell the greater lich about his experiences and his regret about becoming a lich. The greater lich upon hearing everything Fiend Jester said merely laughed in his face and simply said: "You truly are born as a Jester, for even after centuries of retirement you still act as a fool. You are indeed correct, your actions are meaningless and inconsequential to the universe. However, where you are wrong is how you respond to that revelation. Instead of finding joy knowing that you can do whatever you want to your heart's desire, you opt to wallow in a shallow pool of pity and depression. Nothing we do will ultimately matter, why not just have some fun while you're here?"

The greater lich's speech had stunned Fiend Jester and with that, Fiend Jester's worries and concerns had all vanished. Amazed by the profound wisdom of the greater lich, he had sworn loyalty to him, believing that by serving the greater lich he will be able to receive more wisdom to make his unending life more interesting. That was when he had truly started his transformation into a Fiendish jester

#

Summary: Fiend Jester was depressed by his previous life and feared death, BBEG had granted him immortality but due to immortality, he had adopted a nihilistic view of life. BBEG then tells him to view nihilism in a more positive light as him having the freedom to do whatever he wants which causes him to spiral into evil and sadism over time. His attempts to find entertainment in everything, usually to the detriment of others, is his way of overcoming his nihilistic view of life.

Also, BBEG had planned out everything and knew from the beginning that Fiend Jester would eventually willingly become a loyal minion of his

#

The actual backstory may be changed, but the general idea for Fiend Jester is that he was a man who feared death and wished for immortality but regretted becoming an immortal as he is confronted with the concepts of nihilism, however in the end he manages to find his own purpose in life, that being enjoying the hell out of it and doing whatever he wants without caring about how it affects others

Is this a DnDonly thread? I'm making a GURPS/FATE setting where players are biomachines capable of absorbing genes from organisms they consume in order to modify their bodies, and I dunno where I could nerd about it-
