hey y'all, is there anyone out there who might be able to help out someone who hasn't done competitive in a decade? Do much has changed 🥲 and YouTube has conflicting information on good builds. I also would like a more unique team if possible, because I find going with what everyone else has boring.

I get you. I haven't done competitive since X/Y and am getting stomped every game. I wanted to make original competitive teams but it's just not going well. 😞

Doing research really helps like learning what the meta is and learning how team building for vgc works as well

My recommendation would be to check out #rental_teams

Pick something and try to play a few games on the ladder.

Winning isn't important in the beginning but as long as you have a rough idea of what play style you have you can build a team around that concept.

Check out CybertronVGC on YT.
His guides are amazing and shows off all kinds of teams.

Pokesports has a new team everyday. On YT. Check them out as well.

Once you have a rough idea. Ppl on here can help you build a team around your favourite pokemon (needs to be fully evolved most of the time but some exceptions can be made - Eviolite)

If you have a rough idea for a team feel free to ask for help. I'm happy to do so if you have a team built.

252/252/4 EV spreads are completely fine when you're starting out. Complex spreads are only needed once you're in the 2.5K and higher

building upon, the concept of spreads is meant to give you confidence of what things live/dont live/kill/dont kill

hence it doesnt necessarily matter about what things have what spread
