yeah, it was right across the street from us

we live by a playground, and it was on the ground

we saw from our house kids gathered around something, we went to see and realized they were poking the bird with sticks

we brought it home because it needed attention fast, plus we didn't want the kids to keep poking it

we named it Lucky because we thought it was lucky we found it

it was because I fell down the last step on the stairs and twisted my foot

I was in a lot of pain but the family and I agreed that it would hurt a lot worse if it was broken

cut to a week later and the swelling hasn't gone down, so we get an x-ray and lo and behold; a hairline fracture (meaning only a small breakage)

had an air cast (a boot thingy with air pumps to keep the foot from moving) for about a month? month and a half? something like that, but the air pump on one side broke partway through and I didn't bother getting it replaced

I remember my dad saying "it would hurt a LOT worse if it was broken"

#

also the reason we didn't see a doctor about it sooner was because my parents were out of town, and my sister and I wanted to have fun, not waste our time with doctors
