If two compatible pokémon are kept in the daycare, there is a chance they'll produce an egg as you catch pokémon. Higher the compatibility, higher the chance.

Eggs will produce offspring that may inherit IVs, moves, egg moves, etc. from the parents. The species of the offspring is always the first in the mother's or non-Ditto parent's evolution line, with a couple exceptions.

Eggs will complete cycles as you chat. Every 16 messages completes an egg cycle. An egg will hatch when all of its cycles are completed.
