It was initially the best way to get a Meltan, with an 8 step research line. Before HOME support, Mystery Boxes could only be obtained by linking to Let's Go Eevee and Pikachu, which weren't the most well-selling of things. Since the HOME update though, Mystery Boxes are very easy to access, making the research somewhat pointless.

As a Grass, it's not bad by any means, but is overshadowed by other, better Grass types.

For reference, the current best Dragon-type is Shadow Salamence.

Mega Ray does 10% more damage, and survives almost double the amount of time.

His Pokémon are super beefy so you might well lose to him on a first attempt. Once you know his team, pick counters, especially ones with fast-charging main moves. There’s a wait time when you switch in Pokémon or use a main move, so you can cheese that to avoid taking as much damage

Drain Punch is fairly abysmal as things stand now.

Commday rates is one of the few things in the game that we would know pretty much instantly if it changed.

Probabalistic outcomes are one of the hardest things for humans to visualise.

A rate of 1 in 25 gives approximately a 1% chance that one will not encounter a shiny in 115 encounters.

Which, whilst that sounds unlikely for any one person to have happen,

It's actually overwhelmingly likely that such an "unlucky" streak would happen in the PoGo playerbase.

Additionally, due to human psychology, we're more likely to overestimate the amount of encounters we've actually had, and also more likely to notice 'unlucky' runs of mons that 'lucky' ones, where we, for example, encounter 3 shinies in 40 encounters.

And, given the way GO handles shininess, failing to catch a mon, and then re-encountering it later (frequent when fastcatching, or shinychecking) is likely to register as two separate encounters in the player's mind, but is actually only one encounter, again bloating the perception of shinies.

Due to the sheer amount of people playing on community day, any significant change from the norm (for example, a change to 1 in 50, halving the average rate) would be identified within minutes of the first timezone playing.

Lol he’s correct they did spawn in the wild, all in their correct regions of course but the spawn rate was one of the rarest. I saw a wild Uxie not far from where I used to live, the only one to spawn in my town the entire time it’s existed

They probably don’t spawn anymore due to the shiny variants being released

Lake Spirits are available in the wild post shiny release. They have the lowest spawnrates of any wildtable mon, and can only spawn in areas tagged as large bodies of water.

It's from a while back. It required other researches to be done to unlock it.

Honestly, levelling is fairly straightforward now. I stopped giving a damn about XP at level 40, and I've crept up to almost 44 without really realising it.

Even without masses of spawns, gyms and stops, friendship interactions give a tonne, esp if you lucky egg it.
