So what exactly is a raid weekend? I got a news notification about Darkrai and Mega Absol being featured in one on the 30-31st. When I click the learn more on the blog button it just crashes the game for me

I can't find much info about it, and the blog isn't updated. But it mentions more frequency in both Absol and Darkrai raids.

Back in June they did a raid weekend too, and it involved 3X candy. Not sure if this time they'll do the same as we currently have 2X candy for both catch and transfer.

Zarude was available at the beginning of October for a research that could only be claimed within the event period. Once you have it, it could be completed at any time. If you didn’t sign in during the event period there is no way of getting the “Search for Zarude” special research anymore

you can wait till you find mons that have a big circle, those are easier to land giving mons nanab berries do help much more than you would think, since it makes the mon stay still and not move during that catching turn

you just need a tiny bit of practice to calc the exact landing spots for some mons, but mons that are great for excellent throws are usually legendaries, sudowoodoo, girafarig

In this context, it's just "Tier 5 and Mega Raids will have their probability of spawning increased"

In the other context, like the "Lickitung Raid Day" or the "Alolan Marowak Raid Day", it's both increase in spawn and increase in shiny rate.

Then you can go onto the info section where you can evolve/level up/teach second move/etc.
It will show you how many psychic mons out of 30 you have caught underneath evolve sign

Golbat and Crobat aren't super relavent in PvE. Golbat has a niche in Great League, but you want a low attack with high defense and stamina/HP. Doesn't mean you can use it, but you'll see less results

It's a gimmick kind of Pokemon. In the main series game, it has serene Grace, which boosts the chance of effects of moves like flinching, freezing, etc. It learns a lot of moves too, like flamethrower and ice beam. Just not too good in pogo

Imo levels dont matter a ton, just have a team of good mons (counters if possible) maybe above 2250~?CP for a team of 6. Personally most of my mons are 2500~CP but 6 man raids are fine for me, 5 is iffy depending on mons

Also - Trying to evolve a gengar for PvE, would 11/14/15 or 15/14/13 or 13/14/14 be better? Have hte candy to mega evolve it as well

Niantic refers to those internally as 4 stars, most people call them "Hundos"!

They're not that rare, but they are fairly uncommon.

In terms of rough probabilities for how common they are for each method of catching pokes, you can use this handy dandy formula:

1/(16-IVBASE)^3

Where IVBASE is:

0 for Wild or Shadow non-weather-boosted Pokémon
1 for Good Friend Trades
2 for Great Friend Trades
3 for Ultra Friend Trades
4 for Weather-boosted Wild or Shadow Pokémon
5 for Best Friend Trades
6 for Shadow Legendaries from Giovanni
10 for Egg, Research and Raid Boss Pokémon, regardless of Weather-boost.
12 for Lucky Trades

So it's anywhere from 1 in 4096 to 1 in 64. Shadow Mons do have a slightly higher chance to be hundo than listed, depending on how you look at it; as purification adds 2 to each IV slot, meaning any mon with IVs all above 13 can become a hundo through purification.

If you have an online local community on telegram, discord or similar, they may post hundos as and when they find them.

More specifically over that, all berries have multipliers that stack with almost all other multipliers, but that only work for the throw that it's active. So a Pinap berry will only count if it's used on the throw that catches the mon.

In terms of being able to compare them numerically:

Razz: 1.5x Catch Multiplier,
Pinap: 2x Catch Candy Multiplier, (Note, this does not affect mega bonus candy)
Nanab: 0x Pokemon Attack and Movement Multipliers, (Note, this does not affect idle animation)
Golden Razz: 2.5x Catch Multiplier,
Silver Pinap: 1.8x Catch, 2.333x Catch Candy Multiplier, (Note, this does not affect mega bonus candy)

So in terms of odds of catching, G.Razz is far and away the best, but a S.Pinap is actually a little better than a normal Razz.

S.Pinap is probably the best all-round berry in the game, but it's far and away the rarest.

Additionally, for Raid Bosses, you are increasingly likely to catch, the more balls you are into an encounter.

It's not entirely clear whether this works when balls miss the target or not; but using Razzes (Or Pinaps) early in the encounter, and saving Golden Razzes for later throws can help build your supply of them, but keep your odds of catching high.

Additionally, it is likely that all shiny mons are guaranteed catches in Premier balls, so both Rockets and Raids, excepting where there is a speedlock issue, so use Pinaps on those.

Mewtwo and Ray are both pretty good. there's a lot of legendaries that are weak to ghost or dragon types, and those two are really good attackers for those types

There's a really good explanation a ways up,

But basically the issue is that the CP formula massively weights for Atk.

So, in a hypothetical example, something could be 100 CP, and have 15 Atk, 1 Def, 1 HP, or it could have 100 CP and have 1 Atk, 10 Def and 10 HP.

Those are made up numbers, but it's about what you'd expect.

So for GL/UL, where there is a CP cap, you want more stats, so you want low Atk, high HP and Def.

There isn't a direct CP needed to participate in raids, but as a guideline, a super-effective counter around 2500 CP is normally a start.

Not all counters are made equal. A Machamp at about 1800CP will be more effective than an Aggron at 3000CP. There's normally some good guides to what to build for legendary/mega raids in the chat. Normally about 6 people will have you complete the raid securely, with a few exceptions.

If you are struggling to beat him, use your first mon as a bait to load a charge attack, switch to a pokemon that his Persian attacks are not very effective against, and waste his shields. CP's doesn't matter as I'm pretty sure team rocket's cps are influence by the average CP's of your pokemons

Super Rocket Radars are keys to unlock whatever the current shadow legendary is. You can save them for later, but it's not like a 1 for 1 thing that specific researches being active will cause Giovanni to have certain shadow legendaries.

With one exception, being the GoFest2020 research, which guarantees Shadow Kanto legendaries, as the encounters are built in to the research itself.

Zarude I don’t really have at a strong CP, almost at 2k CP but not there.

I’ve got a Roserade at 2067 CP so I’m not sure if she’s strong enough

When I get to Lugia all my power shields have been used and Extrasensory takes a lot of HP for each hit

Roserade or venusaur might be okay against the kingler, unless it’s fast move is fury cutter you should be able to get to something like a frenzy plant or something to take it out

Meloetta or electric types take neutral damage from water moves, grass takes resisted, ya wanna stick with resisted damage to cushion the fast move since shadows hit so hard

So far both times he’s had Kingler it had crabhammer but I know that can change. His Persian had Foul Play the first time and second time it had Play Rough

And I beat Giovanni, thank you so much for the tips. He had Nidoking for his second slot but I have a Hippowdon with Ice Fang and Earth Power so I was able to use that as a counter. Melmetal with rock slide took out Persian, and Tyranitar took down Lugia (luckily I still had one shield left since Lugia had Hydro Pump)
