You do 3 raids, you have enough energy to mega the mon forever.

Unlike the start, field research for Mega energy is not actually that uncommon, and is generally quite easy.

My alt's done exactly 1 mega raid (for the questline), yet can mega 7 different things, just off the research energy.

3 raids is the hard part also megas usually need more people to beat it than L5 too sometimes which doesn't help

i think i also didn't end up with much mega energy from quests cos they're all 'power up x pokemon' and i'm stingy with my dust literally did swablu comm day for the altaria candy though lol

Mega Stones would never have worked, really. Sure, you do a questline to get a mega stone, Niantic maybe forces you to do a few raids, and they you don't have to interact with anything. You just have megas on a button, always, forever. Niantic gets no money, the system itself is just a glamourous way of an effectively permenant powerup for one of your mons.

I don't agree with how they monetised the hell out of it at the start, but I think as it is currently, it's fairly balanced.
