what is an ex raid gym?

So there was an old feature where you were able to get invites sent from Niantic to do special raids called EX raids, it was how you would originally get mewtwo and deoxys etc. it happened I think once a month? And the only way to get the invite was to raid on gyms with the special EX gym tag, it wasn’t a guarantee though, was kind of a dumb idea but fun, they scrapped it.

Invites on EX Gyms could happen every other week. If you were slick, you could get an EX Pass once a week by alternating Gyms.

I think it was only scrapped because of COVID, so hopefully it comes back!

Garchomp is still a reason to grind though. One of the best ground types in the game, it has a 3x resistance to Electric, so it is incredibly efficient vs things like Zekrom raids. Also good for Master League.

And XL Candy grinding for the L40+ Trainers.
