A general rule I usually use is to just search for how can the mon I want to build around can affect or get affected by other mons. Kyogre for example, has rain, which gives tons of options onto what to do with it, with the genies, archaludon, thunder, hurricane, abilities like dry skin, and swift swim, or just combo with good water types, like ogerpon w
