#D&D (On Topic in Off Topic)

I needed to share this. DnD Beyond has a quiz regarding their latest adventure book, and I wanted to see what everyone's results were.
Heehee...
This is mine
I found a map to a series I enjoyed reading about and I'm trying to find more maps about the place,
If I share it here would anyone be able to identify if they've similar work or know who's done it?
Can't tell without seeing it
I know reddit has a whole community for dndmaps you could check too
So if folks don't know here someone there could still point you in the right direction
I found it initially on reddit about a year ago but I can't find the post
Looks like it was made with Inkarnate or a similar program
The map is from a novel called Overgeared
I'm running a campaign base on the world while integrating my pc's into it.
So the world is built already (Thankfully as it's my first time DMing) but I joined at the advice of Phoenix as they said I would be able to meet people who could help me on the more technical side of DnD as now I'm doing more then just worrying about my character.
I appreciate any and all advice if anyone is free
Maybe I'll try to ask in that server. The map isn't a big deal but I was able to get one of the starter village so I'd like to get more maps of the following towns & villages if possible
Quality Novel
I've enjoyed it immensely
@pulsar laurel you have to type in manually your background feature; roll20’s compendium only contains the books that you own on roll20 (which in most cases is just the SRD)
Also, ask questions in #creation-questions ; #compendium-discussion is for discussion of server rulings in #the-compendium
Derp sorry thank you for the info!
@tidal ridge @quartz jacinth tell me about your new characters.
And who else hit paragon with us?
What do you want to know specifically?
Just the build essentially?
What you hope to do with the build + who they are.
Conjuration Wizard Mark of Passage Human, focused on summoning monsters to fight with
But yeah basically the build cause who my character is is vague at this point and I need play a few games to pick between two options.
Personality wise I'm spoofing a Yugioh character lol
I'm playing either a time travler ninja or a regular ninja.
My first martial character.
Shadow Monk?
Assassin and future samurai multiclass.
Going for elven accuracy sharpshooter.
Target is 3 assassin 11 samurai
Ooh I had an elven accuracy samurai build that I was debating using as my paragon character
Will probably go 4 assassin first and retrain a level in time to be 3 assassin 4 fighter.
Decided I need to sling spells after being a martial for so long
It was the other way around for me.
I was contemplating battlesmith samurai sharpshooter
First level in rogue or samurai?
If you go 2 rogue/1 fighter you start with archery
+2 to ranged attack rolls is no joke
Yes but won't have steady aim assassinate and will delay getting elven accuracy. 🥲
Did the math and decided to use sharpshooter selectively cause sneak attack is kinda good enough.
I was mathing for about 3 hours this evening before I made up my mind.
Sneak attack is good damage before level 5
Yeah
It starts to fall off once classes get extra attack and 3rd level spells
Yup
Out of the 4 of us who got paragon none of us are frontlines
Daku might but idk his build well
In steel I'll have actual summons to frontline with though
I'm building 3 assassin -> 4 assassin 18 dex and elven accuracy -> 4 assassin 1 fighter pick up archery -> 2 fighter for action surge -> 3 assassin 4 fighter -> 3 assassin 5 samurai for extra attack -> 3 assassin 6 samurai for resilient wis -> 3 assassin 7 samurai for proficiency in all saves. Then max out dex etc
I had a paladin war wizard in mind.
Defensively unbeatable
Dummy thick ac and saves.
Proficiency in all saves?
But the ability score distribution was sad
Multiclassing doesnt get you more saving throws
Cha saves are pretty uncommon
Int from rogue get resilient wis before level 7 samurai and level seven samurai for cha
and to my knowledge its mostly banishment type things
I'm aware
Possessions and charms
Oh yeah possession is one
I don't want my damage to get directed against the party.
Most charms are wisdom
I think there's only a handful that are charisma
Either way, 4 saves is pretty damn good
Since you don't have to concentrate on spells con isn't that important
The reason I didn't go for frontline is cause I am currently playing a mad multiclass spellcaster that plays like a martial and both having to pick between casting spells and dealing damage and being aware of the ability score distribution are painful.
A martial build seemed so simple and satisfying.
You always know what the correct choice is.
That's fine, don't feel obligated to go in a certain way because of others
It's never damn I should've just did damage or damn I should've used a spell. Cause the only option is damage.
And when the only option is damage it is also the correct option one you don't have to second guess.
No more having to think about which spell is the best play
Yup.
only play is to deal damage now
Honestly I got so used to sitting back and letting the spellcasters carry the game since I was so limited in what I could do
Hmm... A certain illusion wizard left the same impression on all of us.
Don't think I'll ever do that much damage but now I can do more than just punch things
Imagine a genie warlock casting sim with wish. Mystic arcanums come back on LRs. Both warlock and sim cast wish for shapechange. => 2 drow favoured consorts both hitting like a truck twice and then replacing the third attacks with eldritch blasts. But wait they both have illusionist bracers they do it again as a bonus action.
Good fucking lord
We even have a single class genie warlock here.
I'm gonna keep thing simple and concentrate on stuff like Summon Draconic Spirit
@hazy latch you seem to be at just the right level for this. Ping me if you're ever about to do this in combat. I want to watch the spectacle if I'm free.
He's a Sorlock I believe
Oh that's unfortunate.
My Sim is online and so is his Wish, but Shapechange is 9th Level so you can't Wish for it
Oh shite.
negative, pure DaoLock
Ah nevermind, you have the sorcerer role so it confused me
Now I can chill.
I can use Wish for Planar Ally and put a Narzugon + Nightmare or a Deathpact Angel into the field
or 2 of them with 2 Wishes
Main Bilbron adventures from his Sanctuary Vessel now so just pumps out Summons which he can eject from his ring to help out the team
Simbron is running the show now, Bilbron likes to adventure from his bed with wine and grapes
Well if the two of them ever go all out ping me so I can watch.
yeah, genielock sim is the best sim, MAs refreshing, Invocation shenanigans for spells at will (currently have Witch Sight, Shroud of Shadow for Invis at will, and Chains of Carceri for Hold Monster at will), Limited Wish, and elite Cantrip game
Tomb of Levistus to protect against massive incoming damage
@tidal ridge i know you were playing a monk before so it probably didn't affect you but what does a martial do when they don't have access to their weapons?
Having back up weapons is always a good idea
I remember using chains of carceri for hold monster once... The creature was immune to the paralyzed condition. 🥲
not just of the same type, different weapons for different situations is never a bad idea
Should I maybe try and have a cantrip though?
I'm concerned how much I'll actually use it, especially with a lot of Magic Resistance out there
may change it later, we'll see
I had a barbarian carry a greatsword, maul, and glaive for different scenarios
Not sure about that one, I'd imagine the spellcasting mod wouldn't be great
My concern now is a game where the whole premise is that we start captured inexplicably and have to manage without any equipment. Which is manageable as a caster but for martials without tavern brawler... 🥲
Casters get screwed without equipment too, no components or foci
play a race with a natural weapon, my NDC martial is a Simic Hybrid
I don't think I've ever seen a game that had players start as captured
I have seen an Elder Tempest fight which makes ranged weapon attacks impossible while in the lair
But that was a mithril fight so many ways to bypass it
My invocations were all the eldritch blast mods + devil sight + otherworldly leap + tomb of levistus and the deathward thingy dm let me take chains of carceri something in the middle but swapped it out anyway after it proved to have little use.
Tool eldritch adept to get one more invocation on my single class warlock. 😂
Chains is for Chain Pact and Deathward thing is from Tome Pact, so you can't have them both
If I played a sorcerer I'd probably take metamagic adept and if I played battle master I'd get the feat and the fighting style that gives more dice.
I was tome but dm let me pick chains.
yeah, my Sim doesn't really need it with all his other offense, just seemed good on paper, if I never use it I'll swap out next level
Would this be a better investment than having a teleportation ability like the shadar kai or eldarin?
My current plan is to pick up abberant dragonmark at some point to get a cantrip tied to my con stat.
not really, but I like to mix things up for RP purposes, and you can't take the power races all the time
Simic Hybrid really fit my build concept, though
both Manta Glide and Grappling Appendages are critical to the build concept
(Psi Warrior so MG works with Psi Powered Leap and GA allows me to grapple and still use GWM)
This will be one of two non variant human/regular human/custom lineage characters I've ever played.
The other one was high elf nature cleric for shillelagh booming blade.
I'm a fan of the non feat races, you get a lot of cool stuff and you only need an extra feat if you want to rule T1 as a GWM/PAM or CE/SS
just seems like better RP options imo
Aasimars man... Radiant and necrotic resistance is so juicy.
I've always wanted to play one.
surprisingly, they're the statistically least favored race
I think they're quite good
Most games post plat made me wish I was assimar just for the resistances.
two resistances is crazy good
This character would definitely be one if it wasn't for the build wanting elven accuracy.
I love how my sense of anticipation for my current build's progression has been different from what I thought it'd be when I first decided to make a martial character. I was looking forward to levelups where my damage would increase the most but now I find myself excited about something I was never really cognizant of while playing a casters, not even warlocks... Accuracy.
When I levelled up from 3-4 my chance of hitting a target AC of 16 went up from 43.75% to 65.70% and on my next level up from 4 to 5 it'll go from 65.70% to 83.36%.
And 97.30% without sharpshooter penalty. This has opened up a 🎵whole new world🎵of appreciation, for an aspect of this game I never bothered about before.
Aw man
Sadge it can't be server legal
However there are now cannon Creeper mechanics
Hey, actually, in my defense the search engine was not working properly when I searched for silver neither silvers @quartz jacinth so it's not that I don't pay attention
I tried not getting it wrong, okay?
why is the time difference so vast
That's what I effing thought too! So I was like "oh, I'm totally safe to ping the silvers"
Can I have a half strike since I was just half dumb?
i was lied to by technology sir
Petition to fix the search engine
The message was right above me and I didn't see it
But seriously, how do you search for rank pings? I tried @ silver and @ silvers and it doesn't work, is there a way?
i just scroll up manually and search for the past hour
i triple check cause i want my record to be clean
No need to beat a dead horse, man

If you use the role ID it should work I think (but still manually double check
actually it doesn't
still has issues with Discord search being bad
Today I learned not to trust the search engine, it's okay
Thought experiment: if you were to build Zelda from the Legend of Zelda as a D&D character, what would the build look like?
Personally I think Female Sorcerer with the Noble background, but would Elf or Half-elf be more accurate?
Weird idea for a 3.5 character: Lizardfolk Monk Luchador.
Bright outfit with feathers and face paints and stuff. Decent Charisma Stat, for Bluff and Intimidate, loves to collect trophies from defeated enemies.
Any thoughts?
Can’t believe I missed this nostalgic ad vomit from when a dnd player thinks his hobby is mainstream enough to sell cars. https://youtu.be/msDp_k-Fid4?si=6KGSfIPpbQWUIr6E
THIS IS MY NEWER BETTER VERSION
The popular 80s cartoon series Dungeons & Dragons was unexpectedly cancelled after 3 seasons (1983-1985). The kids trapped in another world, never made it home again. Now, in this Brazilian car commercial, we finally get the ending this show deserves. And it would also be nice if Hollywood took notice, and made a ...
When you wake up and learn Hasbro is still a shitty company
it will be so they can show the shareholders how much money they saved next Quater
so they get and intake of funds to 'boost' the company
Even mike mearls wasn’t safe
Eh builders built it. Why keep them on. At least they didn’t get buried in the foundations of a pyramid like the Egyptian workers (yes I know that myth has been debunked)-although I’m sure they didn’t bury them right before Christmas .
I mean this is the last version of d&d right?
My home game dm did an phenomenal job again.
Aaaaaahhhh
@zealous orbit I forgot to ask your question. I'll ask him on Wednesday. But here a Pic of the last session
That's incredible! You are really tempting me on spending a lot of money on a 3d printer
Pretty sure it's only the minis, the walls and floor was just foam painted.
Also the longer we play the more decor he creates and can re-use in later games. Like the floor is something he created 2 years ago.
I follow a youtuber that makes all those templates, I should probably try a couple to see how easy it is
Tho the smoke machine was over the top this time 😄
Our next game is schedules in a month because the maquette will not be finished in time lol
We are at the final episodes of the campaign, so I'm REALLY excited to see what he will pull off as finale
If that is not even something he pulls out for the finale, I can imagine he might summon an actual demon to make it more immersive
@clear hull @soft harness my DM brought a smoke machine to the table 😎
very jealous
I too am very jealous.
I'll cope with it by telling myself French is not one of the languages I can speak...
Custom 3D designed, and 3 weeks of non stop 3D printing, 6kg of resin, hand painted. NEXT LEVEL
Last session of this campaign. The heart breaking
BUT AWESOME
@nimble surge
The impressiveness was just not capturable on picture
@zealous orbit ikr I'm soooo impressed
I'm the little wild shaped wolf
looks at my 3d printer. Oh yeah that is something I could do with that. That’s pretty cool though Yume
Resin 3d printing I heard is a tough one
