In romantic relationship, there are universal boundaries that cannot be crossed.
It seems as if he clearly crossed those boundaries. I understand that you don't want to so easily give up on your relationship with him, especially since you guys have been through a lot together however he has messed up the relationship for the both of you guys.
What he did was wrong and you deserve more than that.
