I'm creating this post because I'm worried that I may be a sociopath.
For context I do feel emotions but if someone has terrible news they break to me I don't really feel anything from that info that they have shared I really do hope everything works out great for them but I don't feel anything from it .I do feel other emotions personal sadness happiness ect ect but when it comes to other people it doesn't click.
Any tips on how to improve in the emotional department to understand others better?
I apologize if this post drags on

As someone who has asked their psychiatrist if they have antisocial personality disorder for the same reason the answer is no. You’re probably nowhere near a sociopath and just have a limited social relationship with the person or the person that is mentioned in the news.
Put yourself in their shoes and maybe that will get you the gist of it.
You can be struggling with empathy but that can also be related to autism/neurodiversity too. There’s a lot more to sociopathy/ASPD that you’d be checking off or experiencing if you had it or developing it, not just struggling to sympathize, be compassionate, etc.
If you want to improve this area of your life, I suggest being around animals or even working at places related to healthcare/helping.
When you work in places where people are injured/sick/wounded like a hospital for example, it’s humble. You see people in a very bad place and you have to be there for them.
