hey, I need advice for a situation I am dealing with rn, I would appreciate brutal honesty

Basically a few days ago, more exactly on 14th of February, I sent a love letter to the guy I am interested in and he called the number I left on the letter. He called me, I responded but then I just hung up due to the fact, I was for starters still in class and secondly I didn't know it was him so I just hung up after I said "hello".

After that I called the number but a girl(which I found out is one of his friends that he spends all the time with, also his classmate) responded. She told me his phone died so he borrowed hers. She gave me his number and I called him. He didn't respond but then he called me back.

It was rather let's say, extremely odd the way he acted. I greeted him and he just responded in a cold tone, he was speaking in a short manner too. We stayed for 10 seconds in silence and after I told him I quite don't know what to say, he just coldly told me to write him when something comes to my mind. Seemed a little sarcastic tbh.

What I'm planning to do is call that girl and put quite a few quarries about what the hell happened. I'll adopt a rather pitiful & sweet attitude to not seem like I am demanding answers from her.

I would really really appreciate advice about what should I do next and also what should I say when talking to her.

I think it may be best to try and talk to him first, even if you just text him. Possibly ask him if he's okay and if he doesn't reply or replies in a dry/sarcastic way then I think that you should talk to the girl about it. But I'm also not sure how close you are to everyone involved and him and the girl seem to have quite a tight relationship so that may be a problem.

I mean isn't it an advantage? her being close to him means she can totally tell me to my face what he thinks so I don't end up wasting my fucking time

It could be an advantage or a disadvantage (or a mix of both) depending on her personality (but I'm basing my advice on past experiences & things I've run into)! Of course I've never met her so idk how she acts but I believe that there's both a possibility of her straight-up lying to you & a possibility of her being honest, so when you decide to talk to her I'd advise being attentive & on the lookout for odd things that may stand out to you

yeah but put it this way, why would she lie? if she is telling me that I should talk with him when he doesn't want to it basically just annoys him and her being his friend wouldn't do that

so she'd just rather tell me that I should not contact him so I don't make him feel bad or whatnot

That is a really good point! I think that if it'd help you to get some closure/clarification then go ahead and ask her but I do think that you should approach him 1st. I think I'm just a pretty paranoid person so I'm constantly thinking about the worst possible outcome, which is why I thought she might lie T__T but I think u should go for it!!

this way there is nothing than could hit you from below 'cause there's no lower than thinking of the 9th layer of hell lol

I mean what you suggest might work but it might not, if I contact her and she tells me he basically doesn't want to do anything with me then I simply stop doing everything altogether but if it's the opposite then I can talk to him 'cause I got the green flag everything is ok.
On the other hand if I contact him everything could work but in the eventuality it doesn't I wouldn't possibly know if he hates my guts or not 'cause normies don't tell that to one's face so that's that

Yeah now thinking about it that way it definitely does seem better to contact her since I feel like most ppl will usually try to indirectly say how they feel (especially when they don't like someone)
