#Is it bad to stand up to a club I'm apart of for being racist?

It's understandable that what's happened would provoke this kind of feeling in you - especially given that it was a celebration of Black History Month and they also served food that could be associated with a stereotype.

I can see why you might feel that this was problematic, and it makes sense that you'd want to address it.

Are you able to talk to the people involved in planning the event about how this made you feel, and what you'd prefer to see in the future if something like this were to happen again?

As for my personal opinion I couldn't care less if people reproduce stereotypes, to me at least it's just food, unless there was a verifiable "intention" to offend Black people then there's no issue for me.

i mean the bsu was apart of it too

the black student union

but i just don’t understand like they don’t serve fried chicken at any other time why now?

It's complete speculation to answer that.

Maybe they want to reproduce the stereotype, or they just want to eat chicken, hard to say.

#

But if the BSU was apart of it, uh, well that makes things a bit different in my opinion.

#

I don't know, you should just talk with the organizer if possible to express your concerns.

If black people attended and they don't have an issue (ie they think the chicken was just food, and not intentional), I'd suggest you leave it be, especially given that you are not black.

We often feel offended for others, which can come off as not a good trait. If atleast one of the black friends who attended feel offended as well, just try talking, but don't make it a big issue.

thats why i dont wanna make it a big issue cause im not black and tbh its non of my business

It’s just food, there’s not really a need to pry for anything else out of it that may not be there

It's not hysteria, just voicing out your opinion. PeepoCoffee
